New Years Resolutions

Does anyone still make resolutions?  I do, but I don't necessarily call them "resolutions." Instead, I make a list of stuff I want to accomplish. It's basically just things I want to do and people I want to see with a lot of stuff I want to eat thrown in. And every time I accomplish something, I cross it off the list and it feels really good. Some years I cross off a lot and some years, not so much, but I do believe that I accomplish more just by making a list and checking in with it a few times throughout the year.

With that in mind, on the eve of my 37th birthday, here are 37 things I want to accomplish this year:

1. Make a souffle
2. Become a better snowboarder
3. Donate blood at least 3x
4. Finally organize my closet
5. Take a midnight canoe trip
6. Cover the tattoo I got on Spring Break
7. Plan a Galentine's Day Party for my girlfriends
8. Buy kayaks
9. Take a bootcamp class
10. Remodel the downstairs bathroom
11. Hike the mountains of West Virginia
12. Finally host my extended family at our home
13. Hang a sliding barn door in the bedroom
14. Spend 20 minutes looking for coupons before weekly trips to the grocery store
15. Read one book a month
16. Ride 50 miles in one day on my bike
17. Make and can jelly with freshly picked berries
18. Host Friendsgiving and cook my first turkey
19. Adopt a dog
20. Take an aerial fitness class
21. Build an indoor herb garden
22. Plan and execute the best looking Christmas light display on our street
23. Go to the gym at least once a week
24. Spend a weekend with family at Seneca Lake
25. Catch a fish to filet and cook that night
26. Host a movie night in the backyard
27. Blog at least once a week
28. Help another person start their own vegetable garden
29. Collaborate more, both at work and in the neighborhood
30. Meet with one new business prospect every week
31. Experiment with new plants in the garden (peas and blackberry bushes)
32. Camp out for a week somewhere I've never been
33. Finally dine at Veritas Tavern
34. Become a vegetarian for a week
35. Inspire someone to improve their health
36. Put more $$ into my 401K
37. Spend a weekend in Nashville

Here's a link to my 2013 list. I didn't blog at all in 2014 so there is no list, but that also means I can cross the "blog more" off my list for 2015. #27 - DONE. Also, I changed into my workout clothes yesterday and Tina from work said I made her feel guilty so she was inspired to go to the gym. Then I wrote goal #35 and crossed it off. #35 - DONE. Hell yeah.

As for the blogging break of 2014, the good news is that I have a lot to share. 2014 was the year Dave and I turned our front yard into a vegetable garden. We went snowboarding in Tahoe and camped out for a week in Michigan. I finally ate at the Greenhouse Tavern in Cleveland and we hosted not one but three seafood boils because there's nothing better than a shrimp boil with friends.

So here's to 2015. I hope this inspires you to make a list of your own!
