My Favorite Bloody Mary Recipe

Is there a more perfect drink than a Bloody Mary? I don't think so. I'm obsessed with good Bloody Marys and when I can get one with enough garnishes to turn it into a meal, I'm in heaven!

There's a restaurant near us that serves huge Bloody Marys with a ton of toppings like jalapeno poppers and onion rings but at $12 a drink, it got me thinking that I want to create a healthier and cheaper version at home. 

When I googled healthy Bloody Mary, I saw a lot of photos of basic Bloody Marys with a single, sad celery garnish. I also saw these works of art below, and learned about a restaurant called Sobelman's Pub & Grill in Milwaukee, Wisconsin making the most insane Bloody Marys I've ever seen. I then googled the price and the "Chicken Fried" Bloody on the right is $50!

But I wanted a healthier Bloody Mary that was still a meal in itself, so here's what I came up with. 

Isn't it beautiful! I used shrimp, marinaded olives, mushrooms and jalapenos, a sundried tomato, mozzarella, celery, a hard boiled egg and sprouted grain bagel pieces with veggie cream cheese. Drink and breakfast all in one!

Here's my recipe for exactly two Bloody Marys. 
  • 4 oz vodka
  • 16 oz tomato juice
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 Tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 Tbsp horseradish
  • 1 tsp Hot Sauce (Tabasco)
  • 1/8 tsp celery salt
  • Freshly ground pepper

Combine all the ingredients, minus the vodka, in a pitcher. Taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking. If you can mix this up the night before, even better. Add the vodka before serving.
